Dare County News for January 2022

Hello Everyone,

Hope you are all doing well in these uncertain times! I have consulted with our Board Members and concluded that we should not meet in person this month due to the high percentage of infections in our area. I can report that I tested positive for COVID early this month. I felt fortunate to be vaccinated and boosted so my symptoms were like a cold but lasted 2 weeks. I am so thankful that we were able to meet in person in December and thanks to Carol for finding the perfect venue for us to gather, meet and eat!

Community Service 2021 Report from Linda Foster

Lynn Blackburn is our top Volunteer for 2021 - she clocked in 595 hours of community service for Dare County. Nineteen people turned in a total of 3,608 hours. Linda will give more details at our next meeting.

Free Covid Test Kits:

I hope you took advantage of the information about ordering Test Kits forwarded by Connie from Linda Gunter, NCRSP Vice-President, via Vivian Branch, our 7A Regional Director. If you need help ordering your test kits reply to Connie and she will help you.

Scholarship Report:

Mary Blythe is our new Scholarship Chair and is getting in contact with the Counselors at the three high schools. Applications will be going out soon to students planning to go into the field of Education.

Bonus:

As you probably noticed, your December NC Retirement check was larger. Just a reminder that it was a one-time bonus of 2% and you will receive a one-time bonus of 3% in October of 2022.

Looking forward to returning to normal activities!
