The Dare County Unit of NC Retired School Personnel (NCSRP) met at Black Pelican Restaurant in Kitty Hawk for a luncheon meeting on December 4, 2019. President Juli Perkins led the large group of 31 in discussion of retiree concerns and new nametags, and Linda Foster talked of volunteer hours for the past year. Carol Sparks (and her crew) took in money for the raffle, the proceeds of which goes to the students awarded scholarships in the Spring - to assist with their college tuition. Sponsors this month included: Our own fantastic bakers, Lynn Blackburn and Brenda Pitonyak along with local businesses Surfin’ Spoon Frozen Yogurt Shop, PigMan’s Barbecue, Miller’s Seafood, Kellogg’s Cottage Shop, Plaza Azteca Restaurante Mexicano, and Barefoot Bernie’s Restaurant. Our next meeting is January 22 at Plaza Azteca Restaurante Mexicano. The luncheon meeting was a great time to share and wish each other Happy Holidays!

For the local newspapers: "The Dare County Unit of NCRSP took in canned goods and money toward five different Food Pantries: Beach Food Pantry, Roanoke Island Food Pantry, Cape Hatteras United Methodist Men, Food Bank of the Albemarle, and Lower Currituck Food Pantry. Due to the generosity of our group, donations came to $875, along with several shopping bags of non-perishable food items. Here, Gay Statler, Brenda Pitonyak, and Beverly Samuels stand with money for 3 different food banks, behind the intake of groceries."
