The Dare County Unit of NC Retired School Personnel (NCSRP) met at Mulligan’s Grill in Nags Head for a luncheon meeting on October 23, 2019. President Juli Perkins presided over the group, speaking of the Unit’s involvement in the Region 7a. Our northeast region met a day previously in Williamston, in part to award the Community Service Representatives from each unit. Jessica Loose was the top-serving member of the Dare County group, by putting in 1080 hours of volunteer work for the 2018-19 school year. Altogether, the 7a Region of NCRSP (including the Dare County Unit) was praised for adding 36,500 hours to our State’s retired teacher totality of volunteer hours.
As is our Unit’s monthly tradition, Carol Sparks and her crew took in money for the raffle, the proceeds of which goes to the students awarded scholarships to assist with their college tuition. Sponsors this month included: Surfin’ Spoon Frozen Yogurt Shop, PigMan’s Barbecue, Miller’s Seafood, Try My Nuts, Kitty Hawk Kites, Plaza Azteca Restaurante Mexicano, and Kill Devil Grill. Our next meeting is December 4 at the Black Pelican in Kitty Hawk. At that time, please don’t forget to bring a donation of cash, or a non-perishable food item for our local food banks.
